In all honesty, once you see this website you’ll probably never look back in terms ot all things kickin’ rad, which could potentially make my little part of the web even more obsolete than it is already (I’m sorry baby). However, until the foot that’s been wound up and pulled back on the catapult rope for the last six months is unleashed and gets stuck firmly inside me, take a look at The Awesomer:

mewithoutYou are an incredible indie/rock/folk group from Philidelphia, Pensylvania and if you know what’s good for you, you probably already know about them.

Either way, the band released their fourth album on Tooth & Nail this year. Entitled It’s All Crazy! It’s All False! It’s All A Dream! It’s Alright, the album focuses a lot more on the bands folkier elements, yet it’s still amazingly composed and Aaron Weiss’ lyrics are as mad and genius as ever. Ok, testing out the WordPress BB app again so just thought I’d have some sort of purpose in case it actually works.

Every Time I Die, the most raucous mosh’n'roll band around are release their new album New Junk Aesthetic in September, 15th to be exact. No doubt it’s going to be awesome and if ‘The Marvelous Slut’ featuring Greg of Dillinger Escape Plan fame is anything to go by, it’ll definitely kick teeth.

Also, the artwork was all drawn by guitarist Jordan and has got people salivating to see the rest upon the albums release. You watch the Watchmen

So, Watchmen is now available to buy on DVD. Friends that I went to see the movie with had very mixed reviews but as a reader of the novel, I found it to be a great adaptation. I recently reviewed the DVD for http://www.subba-cultcha.com and have posted the review below for your viewing pleasure. Click the picture to go to the original page:

To be honest, if an epic fight scene that ends with a guy being thrown out of an nth story window is the first scene in any movie, you know you’re in for a treat.

However, this is no ordinary film. This is an adaptation of a graphic novel that the author firmly stated could never be filmed. This, is Watchmen. One of Time Magazine’s 100 best novels of all time. To say that directing this film would be a daunting task for any director would be a massive understatement, but it was a challenge that was eventually handed to Zach Synder (300) after a myriad of court battles and funding issues that took years to resolve.

The result is visually stunning. Now available to view in the comfort of your own home, Watchmen is as damn near close to the novel as you’re going to get. True, some changes have been made, including the complete removal of ‘Tales of the Black Freighter’, an epic pirate tale that runs alongside the main plot, but the tale is confusing enough as it is and so this has been made into a separate DVD that is available now.

Set in an alternate 1985 where fear reigns supreme and costumed superheroes are part of everyday society, Watchmen is a dark and twisted tale of said superheroes watching over society as their lives hang in the balance due to imminent nuclear war. After the murder of The Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), vigilante Rorschach (Jackie Earle Hayley) begins his quest to reunite the Watchmen in order to sort out the mess that is manifesting around them.

The fight scenes are huge, every inch of detail is spot on and it’s great to see the novel finally come to life on screen. Even Dr. Manhattan (Billy Crudup)’s gargantuan genetalia can be appreciated somewhat amidst all of the violence and political jargon. At times it is difficult to follow and if you haven’t read the novel you might pose yourself the simple question, ‘WTF?’ But, persevere and you are gifted with an epic comic book tale that will leave you wanting to don a mask that changes with your emotion and have the ability to break someone’s arm by bending the elbow joint so hard the wrong way that it pops out of the skin.

Couple this with the plethora of special features that come in this two DVD package that will help you to understand the back story of Watchmen and grasp the film a bit better and you can’t really go wrong. And, if you haven’t read the novel yet, get down to your local comic book store asafp.

Cloud 23, Manchester Hilton

Ok, so this is my first post from my Blackberry so we’ll see how it turns out.

Yesterday me and my girlfriend decided (after a few prior beverages) to head up to Cloud 23, the overhang bar inside the Manchester Hilton hotel. Getting in was a lot easier than expected, as we only had to wait a couple of minutes. Then, we were in the lift and about 20 seconds later, the 23rd floor awaited us.

The view was as breathtaking as the drink prices. I settled for a mojito as I wanted to know what a real one tasted like (take note Font bar!) Whilst Livvy had a Singapore Sling to satisfy her sweet tooth. The drinks were seriously delicious and combined with the view, the £8 price tag was fairly justifiable.

After looking through the glass floor (scurrrry) and seeing the sun across the Bolton planes we headed down and out of our world of pretend luxury. However, if you’re looking for something special to do as a one off, Cloud 23 offers up great views, friendly service and delectable drinks.

Nike SB: Debacle

Trust Nike to push the bar further than it’s ever been pushed before. They may be a multi-billion dollar corporation but they definitely know how to relate and sell to their audience in the best possible ways.

Now then, to Debacle, the first ever skate film to be filmed entirely in HD. This 23 minute tour de force is, quite frankly, stunning. The skating is ridiculous and the imagery/colours/everything is just flawless.

And the best part? You can watch it for FREE, ONLINE, in HD. So there’s really no excuse not to is there? Thought not.
